UX Writing

Welcome to my UX portfolio! I appreciate you taking time to check out my work.

A bit about me:

  • I’m the lead content designer and UX writer for a fast-growing B2B software company.
  • I also freelance for Insider, Money, and Epic Games and have ghostwritten for Inc., Entrepreneur, and Boston Business Journal.
  • Prior to content design, I worked as a content marketer for three years (portfolio here).
  • On the side, I run a media outlet that specializes in entertainment and interactive arts (portfolio here).

Here are some samples that showcase my UX writing experience:

In-App UX & Content Design

Case study #1: Easier on-ramps into product features (The Predictive Index)

Context: In 2023, The Predictive Index began upgrading clients from its legacy software to a new platform. We designed the new “2.0” platform with simplicity and ease of use in mind.

A great example of this streamlined UX is a new widget on our Inspire product homepage.

In the 1.0 software, our Relationship Guide tool had little guidance to help users. For 2.0, I worked in Figma with our UX designers to come up with an easier on-ramp into the tool.

The result: A new widget panel explaining the “why” behind the tool, with a clear “search for two people, then view” next step.

Case study #2: Greater cross-product functionality (The Predictive Index)

Context: In 2023, The Predictive Index acquired a meeting management software tool (then called Charma), which it then integrated into the core PI platform under a new name: PI Perform.

In the years since, I have been tasked with creating content that “brings PI behavioral insights” from our core PI platform to customers who are brand-new to our ecosystem.

The result: This year, I helped create a new “Team Info” side panel that shows how the people in a meeting can better communicate and collaborate based on their PI behavioral data.

User Support

Context: To enable the launch of a new suite of products, my team at The Predictive Index created a dedicated user support site. Here are some sample support articles designed to reduce user friction and accelerate time to value.

Product: PI Hire (for hiring top candidates)

Product: PI Design (for building great teams)

Product: PI Diagnose (for boosting engagement)

Product: PI Inspire (for improving relationships)

Product: PI Administration (i.e., global experience)

User Education

Context: The following pieces are embedded within software products I’ve worked on (via peek panels, tooltips, etc.), and are designed to help improve user learning—and thus the user experience.

Team Activity Score: What it is and how to improve it (Company: The Predictive Index; Product: PI Design)

PI Diagnose: The importance of user anonymity and data confidentiality (Company: The Predictive Index; Product: PI Diagnose)

PI Diagnose: The four drivers of engagement, and how to measure them (Company: The Predictive Index; Product: PI Diagnose)

PI Diagnose: How questions and categories were developed (Company: The Predictive Index; Product: PI Diagnose)

PI Diagnose: Taking action on engagement (Company: The Predictive Index; Product: PI Diagnose)

Resource Centers

Context: The below page caters to users of PI’s Design product. Previously, the flow had a “dead space” moment where new users would complete their onboarding, and then drop off. This page is designed as a hub to fill that space and keep users engaged until they’re ready to hop back into the product.

Landing Pages

Context: The following landing page is for a new freemium update to PI’s Design product. Traditionally, this product has suffered from a “get it gap” which has impacted user acquisition and retention. I updated the copy to help alleviate that gap and entice readers to set up an account.

Context: The below landing page is for a free trial of PI’s Diagnose product. I served as editor, working with our product marketing team to ensure the copy was tight, timely, and in line with the in-product user experience.

Software Videos

Context: The below videos are part of a series called “PI Design Scenarios.” I wrote the scripts, with the intention of producing short, in-product videos that would articulate the value of the software and drive engagement.

Bumper Emails

Context: The following bumper emails are designed to “nudge” users of the PI Diagnose product if they sign up for an account but don’t navigate past the first few screens. The goal of the emails are to increase retention among new users.

Pendo Onboarding Guides

Context: The Predictive Index recently launched a freemium version of its Design product. In the lead-up to launch, I wrote a series of Pendo onboarding guides to help orient new users and get them to consume their first value metric (i.e., to create their first “Team”).

15-Day UX Challenge

Context: In 2022, I upskilled my UX Writing (and UX Design!) chops by participating in Daily UX Writing’s “15-Day UX Writing Challenge.”
